Locksmithing is an art and science of defeating and making locks. Locks are mechanism that has the capability and strength of protecting and securing homes, rooms, buildings, cabinets, and other type of storage facility. A lock is often being opened by a key that has been specially designed for it. In other words, locks are being manufactured along with a key that will be used when the user wants to unlock the lock. This means that in order to open a lock, you may need to use and include two factor authentication or a security token for a much great security. There are many different ways of opening a lock depending on what type of lock is being used. There are some locks that needs to unlock by a code and there are also some that can be unlocked by simply using a keycard or a key.

The first lock was made 4,000 years ago by Egyptians. But, the earliest key type lock was built during the rule of the Assyrian Empire near Nineveh at Khorsabad about 704 BC. It was said to be found at the ruins of the great Emperor Sargon II’s palace. The founded lock had used the same type of pin tumbler and principle that is being employed and used by today’s modern lock. Smiths are people whom are capable of shaping metal by simply using a mould or a forge into a very useful object or to become a part of a much complex structure. Locksmithing is a form of metal working that involves the designing and assembly of locks and the respective keys that are specially designed for each and one of them.

In the past, locksmiths are actually the ones that made the entire lock. The past locksmiths made their locks for hours of doing much file work and cutting screws just to make a perfect lock. Today, the increase of inexpensive mass manufacture means that this kind of process is no longer true and there are already many locksmiths that also have a lot of expertise and experience when it comes to renovation work and sophisticated repair. In other words, there are many locksmiths today that are capable of doing a lot of other things to locks. This means that locksmiths today are far much better and experienced than the past locksmiths because they know more and have already invented and came-up with new ways of fixing and making new lock designs. However, there are still some locksmiths that use the same style and process of fixing and designing locks. This means that some locksmiths today are still using the same techniques and ways when it comes to designing and assembly of locks. Locksmithing is also a profession that a lot of people are taking up today. Some are going to special schools just to learn the technique and different ways that will make them become a skilled locksmith. In other words, Locksmithing is a very unique and special skill that needs to be properly learned and obtained from experts that have a lot of experience and well known locksmith.
